Bush Arts & Crafts

Adjacent to and part of the Bush Hotel is Bush House a former magnificent Georgian residence (now a listed building) which fronts on to the high Street. This building has been sensitively converted into a small fashion and arts/craft centre (the Bush Yard) comprising seven commercial units, five of which are in a courtyard setting to the rear.  These comprise: 

The Very Small Gallery, Bush Craft Yard, Carrick on Shannon

The Small Art Gallery (with a large outlook!): a charming little art gallery operated by well known and long established local Artist Sandra Vernon featuring her own work and that of many up and coming local artists. Commissions taken for paintings, sculptures, portraits, landscapes, contemporary art, local scenes etc.

The Herb Garden, Bush Craft Yard, Carrick on Shannon

The Herb Garden in the Bush Craft Yard officially opened on Saturday, 9th July.  The Herb Garden is the culmination of a dream for Horticulturalist, John Gaffey, who has spent many long hours in the inclement weather putting this together.  Many of this produce can be seen around the Bush Hotel – flowers for the window boxes and hanging baskets, herbs used in the kitchens.
Later this summer watch out for the arrival of a few sheep, goats, rabbits and hens for our younger guests to feed and interact with!
 

Ink Spot Book Shop, Carrick on Shannon

Ink Spot: a quaint and most curious book shop passionately managed by Wille Stewart and his wife.  Stocking a large selection of local art, writing, zines, cards, poetry and paper crafts as well as new and second hand books on Music, Philosophy, Politics, Art, Fiction, Poetry, Local/Irish Interest, History, Building, Gardening, Esoteric, Collectibles, CDs and DVDs. It’s main purpose is to promote local arts and creativity in Co Leitrim.  Also host regular film screenings and readings.  If you’re passing through Carrick by car, bike, foot or boat please drop by and say hello!  The smallest of 3 book shops in Carrick on Shannon!
