European Eco Label (‘Flower’) Award
The Bush Hotel
in Carrick on Shannon in Leitrim has become the first hotel in Ireland to achieve the ‘Flower’ EU Eco-label
in recognition of its commitment to sustainable tourism and protection of the local environment, “Guests see our policies in operation and also feel good in supporting our efforts, thus enhancing the overall experience. From a business perspective, our environmental management approach has delivered significant cost reductions which we have been able to pass on to our loyal customers.”
The Irish Hotels Federation
(IHF) welcomed the award as “a well deserved recognition of the tremendous range of green initiatives undertaken by the Bush Hotel and of its leadership in implementing best practices in environmental management within Ireland’s hospitality sector.”
Matthew Ryan, President of the IHF, said that “visitors to Ireland are increasingly mindful of the impact they have on the local environment and are actively seeking out greener holidays. Our breathtaking scenery and beautiful landscapes attract millions of visitors each year and are an immense national treasure which we must strive to protect for the good of all.
“Going green and being more attentive to the environment around us is the way forward for Irish hotels and guesthouses looking to capture market share internationally while offering a sustainable product,” he added.
